Laser in Dermatology
It is used in our laser polyclinic, which is the most important of the latest technological developments in dermatology.
IPL (Blue Light, Photoepilation)
The working principle of IPL hair removal devices is different, they are not real lasers. They send condensed light energy to the applied area. IPL devices can be used effectively in the treatment of some pigmented lesions on the skin and to remove freckles in addition to epilation.
Laser Epilation
Laser hair removal is the permanent removal of unwanted hair in our body using laser light. It is approved by the FDA for its permanent properties and does not harm human health. It is important to start laser epilation with the correct laser type. Before the application, specialist doctors should decide which laser method is suitable for the person by evaluating the skin and hair structure. With this evaluation, the expected success rate from epilation increases and the possibility of side effects decreases. There are many types of lasers in different wavelengths. Not every laser is sufficiently therapeutic for each lesion.
What are the Lasers Used for Hair Removal Purposes?
Alexandrite, Diod, Nd Yag and Ruby laser. Among them, the most widely used is the Alexandrite laser. The Diode and Nd Yag laser is relatively more painful as it goes deeper. However, it is preferred especially in dark-skinned patients and in areas such as the face with a relatively low success rate. Today, the Ruby laser is almost never used.
Is There an Age Limitation in Laser Epilation?
Although there is no age limit, application under the age of 18 is not recommended due to the incomplete development of hair.
Which Areas is Laser Epilation Applied to?
The most commonly applied areas are the face, armpits, bikini, legs and arms in women; in men, the nape, neck, cheekbones and back area. However, it can be applied practically to any area except around the eyes.
Who is not applied to laser epilation?
Due to the lack of sufficient scientific data, pregnancy is not applied to pregnant women, those with a light-induced disease, and epilepsy patients with the possibility of laser light triggering a seizure. Care should be taken during application in those who use drugs that can create sensitivity to light! In addition, lasers cannot be made because the laser is not useful to very light, red and or white hairs.
Who are the Ideal Patients in Laser Epilation?
In patients with light skin and dark hair color, both the success rate is high and the side effect rate is low. In our clinic, Fotona Nd yag laser, which can be applied to troubled patient groups for epilation such as dark skin and light skin color, is used.
What Are the Most Successful Areas of Laser Epilation?
In women, the armpits, bikini and lower legs; in men, the neck area and armpits are.
Where is Laser Epilation Least Successful?
The success rate in the face region is lower than in other regions.
What are the Side Effects of Laser Epilation?
In each patient, redness and swelling of the hair roots are expected after the application. This effect disappears in about 1 hour. Rarely, there may be scabing, light or dark color change in the application area and water collection. However, this condition can be treated with appropriate methods and is temporary.
How Many Sessions Are Required for Laser Epilation on Average? How Long Are The Session Breaks?
It is a 80-90% reduction in target hair in laser epilation. Although reaching this rate varies from patient to patient, the average of 5-6 sessions for underarms, legs and bikini in female patients; In male patients, results can be obtained in an average of 7-8 sessions. It is not possible to tell the number of sessions in the face applications in female patients. In male patients, it is aimed to bring the number and thickness of hairs to a level that will not disturb the number and thickness of hairs rather than a decrease in this rate due to hormonal characteristics. Session breaks are 1-1.5 months in places such as face and neck; 2-2.5 months in other regions.
What are the conditions to be considered before laser epilation?
It is recommended that the hairs be long when coming to the first meeting because we want to see the hair structure. After a method that takes the hair from the root, such as wax or an epilator, it is expected for at least 10 days in the face area and 3 weeks in other body parts. In addition, it should not be bronze in terms of application.
What Should Be Considered After Laser Epilation And Between Sessions?
The patient can return to his normal daily life. He can go to work, take a shower, wear makeup. After the applications made to an area that sees the sun, sunscreen should be applied. The hairs between the sessions can only be shortened with methods such as razor and scissors. The hairs should not be pulled. In addition, tanning should be avoided as it can reduce the session dose and increase the likelihood of side effects. Fractional laser Nd:YAG wavelength is used in our clinic, which acts on numerous follicles with a single pulse and provides safe and effective ways to remove the surrounding area without absolutely affecting it. Thanks to its special scanner; It provides in-depth and faster hair removal, including large areas such as back and chest. Effective hair removal is provided on all hairs of light dark, ‘light-dark color’, ‘thin or thick’, ‘superficial or deep’ on all hairs.
Acne Scar Treatment
Acnes (acneses) can heal when severe, untreated, or bored and played. Removal of these scars with fractional laser treatment is one of the newest methods used today. It deeply but controls the defective areas of the skin, but in a controlled way, it erases or shrinks scars. With the fractional laser, the micro laser pulses that go deep into the scars are restored and the poorly healed scar tissue are healed. Solid skin quickly covers this area with new and healthy texture. In this way, the traces gradually decrease in each session. In the treatment of acne scars with fractional laser, the session intervals can be adjusted individually, but it is applied as 3-6 sessions at average 4 week intervals. With this method, it is possible to reduce acne scars by 50-80% after three sessions.
Skin Tightening and Rejuvenation
Fractional laser is one of the newest methods used to remove wrinkles and blemishes on the skin today. The aim of skin rejuvenation is to provide new skin tissue formation instead of eliminating worn skin tissue. The recovery period in skin tightening treatment with fractional laser is almost 1-7 days short. It is applied as 3-6 sessions at intervals of 4 weeks on average 4 weeks according to the needs of the skin for skin rejuvenation with fractional laser.
Skin Wrinkles Treatment
Wrinkle occurs as a result of the wear of the roof, which provides the elastic structure of the skin and keeps the skin tense (especially collagen). The worn collagen is destroyed and the body is replaced by making a new one. Unlike other laser systems, the Fractional Laser of the Photona can go deep into the skin. This means that a thick layer can form that tightens the skin. This effect means shorter-term recovery than other systems for these reasons. Excellent results are obtained with fractional laser application. It is a non-invasive procedure used to remove traces due to aging on the face, neck, chest and hands. It acts with the principle of increasing the production of collagen tissue under the skin. Wrinkles are eliminated by lifting a very thin layer from the top, smoothing the skin and at the same time stretching the collagen tissue with a special technique. It is seen that the skin gains freshness and tension by forming new collagen tissue and younger, water-retention cells on the treated skin.
Scar Treatment
Wounds that go deep into the skin usually heal, leaving a mark. These scars are called scars. They are quite difficult to destroy. Fractional laser has given a new dimension to the treatment of scars formed after injury. Small laser beams from the pin tip sent from the surface reach the lower layers of the skin, destroying the damaged connective tissue that leads to the appearance of a scar, and initiate the formation of young and healthy tissue. With laser treatment, the scar is reduced, flattened and the harmony with the surrounding tissue is increased. The tracks gradually decrease in each session. According to the problems of the skin, the session intervals can be adjusted individually, but it is applied as 3-8 sessions at average 4-week intervals.
Skin Stretch Marks (Stria) Treatment
Although skin stretch marks are seen especially in women, it is a skin problem observed in rapid weight gain and loss during puberty and during pregnancy. The pink or purple color, which is seen as soon as they first form, then turns gray and becomes less visible. Since there is a lot of subcutaneous adipose tissue in the hip, hip, abdomen and breast areas, there are mostly cracks in these areas. Laser applications as a treatment method provide significant success in removing stretch marks. Successful results are obtained because the cracks develop in the early stages, as not all tissue cells disappear yet and the tissue can regenerate on its own. Fractional laser is applied between 1-3 sessions on average in the treatment of skin cracks, and the number of sessions can be increased according to needs.
