OTORHINO-LARYNGOLOGY
The Department of Otorhinolaryngology provides services in the diagnosis and treatment of all head, neck and upper respiratory tract diseases.
After polyclinic, laboratory, radiological examinations and odiological examinations, almost all of our patients are diagnosed and treated in our hospitals. ENT examination rooms are equipped with an endovision system that allows endoscopic examinations as well as classical examination equipment.
In our operating rooms, it is equipped with the necessary surgical sets that will contribute to the comfort of the patient and a successful surgical process. These sets stand out as equipment that contributes to physician practice in the fields of endoscopic sinus surgery, middle ear and mastoid surgery. In our operating rooms, there are medical equipment, physician staff and intensive care services that will successfully perform the surgeries of major cancers of the head and neck region.
In our hospital, the ENT team is performed in special operations other than standard surgeries (tonsil, adenoid, vetilation tube, deviation and turbinate op.). These are;
- Traumatic surgery (jaw and facial fractures)
- Skull base surgery (related to tumors)
- Ear surgeries
- Outer ear atresia (outer ear tract development disorders)
- Facial-nerve surgery
- Hearing loss – Absence of eardrum, membrane collapse, ear calcification
- New solutions for dizziness and tinnitus
- Cancer surgery – Treatment of head and neck tumors
- Advanced endoscopic sinus surgery, long sinusitis, nasal polyps – cysts – tumors
- Hoarseness treatment
- Treatment of snoring and apnea
For snoring, a painless, non-surgical, patient-friendly application “Photona Nightlase Laser” is performed in a few centers in the world and in Turkey. As surgical treatments, tonsil and adenoid, tube placement in the ear, shrinking the nasal meat with radiofrequency, septoplasty (nose cartilage and bone curvature surgery), Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (Sinusitis with camera and nasal flesh surgeries) eardrum surgeries are successfully performed.
Rhinoplasty (Nose Aesthetics)
It is a surgical procedure performed to correct nose deformity. It is the most performed operation in aesthetic surgery. In this procedure performed under the name of rhinoplasty, bone and cartilage curvatures (Deviation surgery) that prevent the patient from breathing are also corrected. The aim of aesthetic nose surgery is to make a natural nose suitable for the profile of the face and is not clear that it is surgery.
Hearing and Balance Diseases
Surgical treatment of middle ear calcifications (Autosclerosis, Tympanosclerosis) with prosthetic applications (Stapedectomy, Stapedotomy, Mobilization), repair of eardrum holes and ossicular damage (Timpanoplasty and Osciculoplasty) that require advanced experience are among the frequently performed surgeries in our patients with hearing loss. We serve with a rare ENT team who has long experience in this regard in DRY atresia, where the outer ear canal, which is problematic to be corrected surgically, is not developed.
In addition to drug treatment, surgical interventions can be applied in sudden hearing loss. Advanced surgical methods that provide rapid recovery in facial paralysis are again among the successful studies of the ENT team. All kinds of treatment of inner ear diseases (Meniere’s disease) characterized by severe dizziness attacks and hearing loss, which cause significant problems in daily and business life, is successfully carried out in our department. Rehabilitation or treatment of our patients with resistant balance problems, which are not accompanied by maneuvers or treatment with advanced surgical methods, which is provided by the meticulous work of our specialized team on this subject, which is of vital importance.
Nose Diseases- Allergy
The diagnosis and treatment of many nose diseases that make patients very difficult, difficulty breathing through the nose, but need to be treated for the quality of life is carried out with a great accumulation of experience. Surgeries are performed with endoscopic and microscopic methods, and the necessary support is provided for the recovery of our patients in a short time. Common diseases;
- Intranose bone curvatures, nasal bone growths,
- Chronic sinusitis, sinus cysts
- Nasal polyps,
- Aesthetic Nose Operations
The diagnosis and treatment of allergic rhinitis, which is common today, is carried out in our hospital with a multi-team approach. The diagnosis is made with a detailed examination, and our patients who need treatment for a long time are planned to be treated at an academic level and within ethical rules in order to increase their quality of life.
Head and Neck Tumor Surgery
Good and malignant tumors of the head and neck region of vital importance (Ear, nose-sine, oral, throat, larynx, salivary glands, face and neck skin) require meticulous study from the diagnosis stage. In addition to treating and eliminating post-treatment problems, providing social support is provided with a multi-team approach.
The necessary equipment and experience for the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases, which require advanced knowledge and experience, are available in our hospital.
Childhood Ear Nose and Throat Diseases
In addition to the preventive methods of recurrence in the surgeries of tonsil-geniz meat growths that we see frequently in our children, the techniques in which all of the tonsils are not taken are routinely applied in our department. Academic and ethical decisions are taken for the surgery. In addition to the application of ventilation tubes in middle ear inflammations that do not respond to treatment, the correction of intranasal septum curvatures in children is successfully performed successfully in the necessary cases with the appropriate technique at an early age. All kinds of childhood diseases that are congenital and later are in the field of interest of our department.
Sleep Disorders – Snore
A third of men over the age of 35 snores. Our treatment methods related to snoring successfully solve problems for social life sharing as well as sleep health. Snoring, accompanied by sleep breathing (apnea), shortens the patient’s life expectancy, as well as death in bed, uncontrolled high blood pressure, and risk for important diseases such as infarction. The treatment methods we apply in the solution of this important health problem are applied gradually, and the most useful techniques suitable for the patient are selected.
What is obstructive (cloking) sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS)?
OSAS is a disease that manifests itself in interruptions in breathing due to recurrent narrowing or obstructions in the upper respiratory tract during sleep. Recurrent breathing disrupts the continuity of sleep, a deep and restful sleep prevents sleep, causing excessive sleepiness during the day. At the same time, breathing often reduces the saturation of oxygen in the blood and causes many diseases, especially cardiovascular diseases, or to worsen these diseases.
What are the symptoms?
• Snoring; It usually has excessive noise and at least 3-4 days a week.
• Being noticed by others that they are gasping during sleep
• Waking up with a feeling of suffocation from sleep
• Waking up tired in the morning and being extremely sleepy during the day despite getting enough sleep
• Forgetfulness, lack of attention, irritability
• Headaches and dry mouth, especially in the morning
• Excessive sweating during sleep, frequent urination
• Sexual reluctance and inadequacy
• Gastroesophageal reflux
Sound Diseases
While endoscopic and stroboscopic methods are used in the diagnosis of hoarse diseases, microsurgical techniques are used with care in cases where surgery is required, and maximum care is taken to ensure that our patients achieve a healthy voice. While the treatment of nodules, polyps, edema, cysts and chronic inflammatory thickenings in the vocal cords is frequently performed, today’s most valid techniques are applied in vocal cords paralysis.
Skull Base Surgery
Treatment of nose-sinus, ear tumors adjacent to the head, all kinds of surgical treatment of balance-hearing nerves and facial nerve diseases, surgical treatment of tumors of intracranial vessels adjacent to the ear
Face-Chin Bones Surgery
Surgical treatments of lower and upper jaw fractures, treatment of tumors of jaw and facial bones
Vertigo and Balance Center
Equilibrium is a complex function, with the simultaneous operation of sensory and motion systems in a perfect way. The brain works almost like an orchestra conductor, processing information from the visual (vision), vestibular (inner ear) and somatosensition (muscle and joints) and ensures that the body is upright and the image is fixed in the fovea (behind of the eye) when it is mobile or immobile. Thus, the balance is preserved. In cases of dizty and instability, the inner ear is usually affected. However, there may be imbalance, dizziness and fall in another problem in the chain responsible for maintaining balance (such as visual impairment, muscle and joint problem, neurological disease).
The causes of dizze are very diverse and sometimes patients travel through numerous centers until they are diagnosed correctly. Laboratory (blood analysis) or radiological (Computerized Tomography, MRI) examinations are often insufficient in the diagnosis of dizriage, especially inner and ear diseases. Otorhinolaryngology and Neurological examination is the most important step of diagnosis. Hearing test and Videonistagmography (VNG) are usually the first and most important examinations in diagnosing dizziness.
Common Diseases:
- Meniere’s Disease: It is a degenerative disease of the inner ear and is characterized by recurrent vertigo, undating or progressive hearing loss lasting between 20 minutes and 24 hours.
- Benin Positional Paroxysmal Vertigo (BPPV): It is a disease also popularly known as inner ear crystal. It is a disease characterized by short-term vertigo, triggered by a certain position (bending forward, lying on your back or turning right-left in bed), triggered by the small crystals in place of the inner ear falling into the semicircular canals. It is treated by replacing the critals.
- Labyrinthitis and Vestibular Neuritis: It is a disease that develops as a result of sudden damage to the inner ear or vestibular nerve (usually of viral origin) with severe nausea, vomiting and imbalance that lasts for hours or days.
- Migraineous Vertigo: Vertigo, triggered by imbalance or position is seen in 40% of patients with migraine headaches or in patients with migraine without headaches. It is seen as the second most common among the reasons for dizzying and admission to the hospital.
Apart from inner ear diseases, brain tumors or vascular occlusions, degenerative neurological diseases such as Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, muscular and skeletal system diseases, and cardiovascular diseases can cause vertigo and loss of balance.
